just lil is an artist and DJ from South East London. Her style is inspired by the vocals of UK underground music. Having learnt how to sing by imitating garage & grime vocals plucked from 90’s R&B, just lil found her voice and developed an intricate approach that re-contextualises the practice of sampling within more traditional songwriting structures to create a sound that feels both nostalgic and strikingly fresh. First emerging through collaborations on ones’ debut project, her debut EP ‘WWED’ built on her foundations and featured production from Cameo Blush and Dot Major and mixed by Hessle Audio’s Pearson Sound; following a series of features with Douvelle19, Ludwig A.F and on Barry Can’t Swim’s Mercury-nominated album.

I’m hibernating! Nov/ Dec was fun though. Played my biggest show at Here supporting Ross From Friends. Supported Mietze Conte at MOT (the best club in the world). Played footy for foundation fm at the Nike X Palace launch. Scored against lads. And launched/relaunched a clothing brand my godmother founded in the 90’s ‘Bon-Bleu’ with my friend Hak.

I wanted to do a mix that blends genres but feels connected and nostalgic. UK and European club music is super exciting atm. Wanted to showcase its breadth. The mix captures the heart of the dance with hooky brain ticklers that keep you locked in. Something you can play when you wanna throw lighters up at the train platform.
